Alma Legal

Alma Legal is a registered business name and trademark of Marina Warwick practising as an Isle of Man advocate, English solicitor and Russian lawyer – specialist in international trade law and private international law with 20 years’ experience.

Marina advises on English, EU, Isle of Man and Russian law, including matters arising in the structuring of international groups and holding companies with a view to ensuring investment and asset protection, regulatory compliance, privacy, tax efficiency and isolation of risks.

Her practice focuses on company and commercial law and the areas of her master’s degree from the London School of Economics: international tax, intellectual property and Internet law. She also advises on insurance law and regulation, including the distribution of insurance products in the jurisdictions of her qualification, and data protection in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation and equivalent legislation.

Before immigrating to the Isle of Man and becoming the first Russian lawyer with her qualifications and experience to be admitted as a Manx advocate, Marina practiced law in Moscow for seven years, mostly with international law firms, including Gide Loyrette Nouel and Freshfields. She also worked closely with a leading international arbitrator at Mannheimer Swartling on cases heard in the London Court of International Arbitration and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, where she acted, in particular, for space industry clients. It was the resolution of such a dispute that enabled the start of the Sea Launch project at the time as an international effort of the US, Norwegian, Russian and Ukrainian partners.

Practising law in and from the Isle of Man, Marina maintained her contacts in the space industry and took an Executive Space Course at the International Space University in Strasbourg.

Clients interviewed by Legal500 praise her as ‘efficient and attentive’.
